The Pet Bereavement Support Service relies on a team of volunteers who respond to calls and emails on our support line. Volunteers offer a wide range of skills and experience.
I have experienced the loss of pets myself and I have time to give, so it’s good to know that through being a volunteer I may have helped someone through a really difficult time and, hopefully, made a difference.
Support line volunteer
We're looking for volunteers with a warm telephone manner, excellent listening skills and an understanding of the human-companion animal bond. To be able to offer support volunteers also need to have experienced the pain of losing a pet.
All volunteers undertake a 16-week distance learning course to prepare for their volunteer role, including practical experience on the support line.
If you are interested in becoming a support line volunteer please see our ''Support Line Volunteer'' leaflet for more details about what is involved. If you find that this is something you would be interested in applying for you can download our Pet Bereavement Support Service Volunteer appplication form, which should be returned with a passport sized photo attached.
