Distance learning

Accredited by the British Veterinary Nurses Association (BVNA), this innovative eight-unit distance learning programme in pet loss support is for veterinary professionals who are involved in supporting clients through pet loss.

Course content

The course is aimed at developing practical skills and knowledge to enable safe practice, covering topics such as loss and grief, euthanasia, grief in surviving animals as well as communication skills for providing emotional support.

Delivery and assessment

This eight-unit distance learning programme follows a self-directed model of learning, with the requirement for you to take responsibility for completing the programme and managing your own study time.

From 2011 it is anticipated that this course will be tutor supported via an online Learning Management System.

Learning is assessed by submission of a skills-based Professional Portfolio containing eight tasks. You will receive written feedback from the programme assessor. Upon successful submission you will be awarded a certificate, detailing the units you’ve completed and the number of CPD hours.
