SCAS offers a number of training programmes in animal-assisted interventions, pet loss support and the human-companion animal bond.

    Introduction to Animal-Assisted Interventions

    Throughout 2012

    The highly anticipated Introduction to Animal-Assisted Interventions course has now been developed as an introduction to the key concepts underlying animal-assisted interventions (AAI) and is now open for applications. The course is suitable for anyone who has an interest in the therapeutic potential of companion animals or is looking to increase their knowledge base in the subject and may not yet be currently practising in AAI.

    This intensive four-day residential course will be of interest to those working in health, social care and animal welfare. Bookings now open for 2012.

  • Practical Training for Therapy Dogs

    Practical Training for Therapy Dogs - Level 1

    London: 31st March and 28th April 2012 | Lincoln: Dates TBC

    A practical course aimed at those wishing to take their dogs into a therapy situation or visiting programme. Practical training takes place over two days spread 4 weeks apart at The Dogs Trust Training Centre at Harefield, London and Riseholme College, Lincoln University. Limited places available.

    A practical training course aimed at dogs that are already in therapeutic or activity-based work or are ready to work in a more advanced way with people in a therapeutic setting or as part of a visiting programme.

  • Vet nurse and kitten

    Pet Loss Support in Veterinary Practice

    Distance learning

    This innovative eight-unit distance learning programme is for veterinary professionals who are involved in supporting clients through pet loss. SCAS and BVNA members pay £325.00 instead of the full rate of £375.00.
