    Winning the hearts and minds of young offenders

    Plans for the first prison-based dog training rehabilitation programme in the UK will be unveiled this week at an event being organised by The Society for Companion Animal Studies (SCAS) at HMYOI Polmont, near Falkirk – the country’s largest young offenders’ institution, located in the west of Scotland with over 700 residents.

To tackle this difficult and emotive issue, SCAS has launched a new distance learning course aimed at veterinary professionals working with individuals and families facing pet bereavement.

    Pets and people charity the Society for Companion Animal Studies (SCAS) will receive a welcome boost of support this Friday 5 March, when Nigel Waterson MP presents to the House of Commons the Second Reading of his Private Member’s Bill to increase the number of residential care and sheltered housing providers which allow pets to live with their owners.
