It is our view that anyone delivering animal-assisted interventions should be suitably trained with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure the safe and effective delivery of services.
It is essential that human and animal welfare is given due consideration in all interventions. Currently, there is no recognised AAI practitioner ‘qualification’. Most practitioners are qualified in a health, social care or animal welfare specialism and then go onto receive specialist training in AAI, something which SCAS strongly recommends.
A fantastic, varied, thorough and comprehensive course, which far exceeded my expectations. A great range of tutors/speakers, all experts and their subject area. Masha Bennett, Psychotherapist.
SCAS currently offers a specialist, eight-day intensive training course aimed at professionals and students working in health, care and animal welfare. We also provide bespoke training in AAI on request, and are currently developing a distance learning course that provides a basic introduction to the subject.
