Working in partnership with the Blue Cross pet charity

About us

The Society for Companion Animal Studies (SCAS) was established over 25 years ago to promote the study of human-companion animal interactions and raise awareness of the importance of pets in society.

It is now the leading human-companion animal bond organisation in the UK and offers information, education, training and research services to pet owners and people from a range of disciplines.

History

It was in Dundee in 1979 that a small group of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and veterinary surgeons founded SCAS, by setting up the Society to promote awareness and understanding of human - companion animal relationships.

We have come a long way in 25 years and have established ourselves as a reputable, leading authority on the human-companion animal bond in the UK. We are an incorporated registered charity and now a private limited company with over 500 members, some of whom span the globe.

Since 2003, SCAS has worked in partnership with  The Blue Cross animal welfare charity.
