The SCAS Journal is published four times a year by the Society for Companion Animal Studies. It is a record of happenings and events within human-companion animal bond studies in the UK and overseas. It carries contributions from SCAS members and associates and tries to offer something of interest to every reader from those who are involved in academic research to pet owners who wish to know more about how and why we interact with companion animals.
In particular, SCAS is interested in knowing about programmes, case studies, research, book reviews, examples of good practice, policy development, conference and seminar reports, diary dates and other news items, in the following areas:
SCAS aims to disseminate research findings to researchers, practitioners and members of the general public, in an accessible way. Students, established researchers as well as practitioners are encouraged to submit articles to the Journal for publication. SCAS is particularly interested in encouraging 'young' researchers in human-companion animal bond studies who are perhaps new to the field or who have limited research experience.
If you are involved in any of the above areas, please get in touch with SCAS with your contribution so that all SCAS Journal readers can benefit from knowing about it.
Articles should be type-written and submitted electronically, if possible, in Microsoft Word by email attachment to info@SCAS.org.uk. Length of articles will vary according to the type of article submitted. As a guide, articles such as research papers or conference reports should be no longer than 1,500 words.
Where appropriate please include photographs or illustrations. If possible, these should be sent by email attachment in jpeg format to info@SCAS.org.uk. We can accept hard copies, but cannot guarantee their safe return.
For submissions, please include the full name of author(s), the full title, the organisation or institution that the author represents (if appropriate) and correspondence and contact details.
Please note that the Harvard System of referencing is preferred.
For research articles, please indicate whether the article has been published elsewhere and whether permission has been given for its reproduction here.
SCAS welcomes all contributions. Please be aware all articles are reviewed by the editor who will send a final copy to the corresponding author for approval before print. Articles can be submitted at any time during the year.
