Volunteer Opportunities with SCAS

We need your support!

As a member-based charity, SCAS relies on the support of its members.

You can get involved at different levels of commitment and share your ideas, expertise, skills, as well as learning new skills.

Join a SCAS Working Group

Are you passionate about advancing the mission of SCAS and eager to get more actively involved? We are seeking volunteers to join a working group and contribute to the charity in a meaningful way.

This is a great opportunity to:

  • Share your expertise and ideas.

  • Help shape SCAS projects and initiatives.

  • Collaborate with like-minded members to make a real impact.

We have three working groups:

  • Animal Assisted Services/Education Working Group (AAS/Ed WG)

  • Research Working Group (RWG)

  • Conference Working Group (CWG)

Reports to: The relevant SCAS Working Group Chair.

Work hours: The working groups meet approximately every 6 weeks, and tasks are delegated according to expertise and availability (workload can be adjusted and tailored to individual commitment capacities).

Location: Working from home.

If you are interested in volunteering, please get in touch at info@scas.org.uk. We would love to discuss how you can get involved and find the right role for you within SCAS.

Register as a “Communications Volunteer” with the Communications Team

As part of the SCAS Communications Strategy, we are looking for people with varied communications skills. These include blog writing, summarising scientific articles for a lay audience, planning and coordinating webinars, creating engaging graphics for social media and website posts, collating the quarterly newsletter, website management, social media management, membership campaigns and more. If you have one or more of these skills, are aligned with our aims, and would like to contribute (and be acknowledged) to our work at SCAS, please apply.

All volunteers work with the Communications Team, which is responsible for ensuring SCAS has a high profile externally, with positive and trusted communications which engage current and potential future members as well as the wider public looking for information about Human-Animal Interaction (HAI) and Animal-Assisted Services (AAS).

The designation and time commitment for each volunteer can be mutually decided based on their skills and availability.

Reports to: SCAS Communications Officer (as assigned).

Work hours: Flexible, depending on the role chosen and your availability. Can be as little as 4 hours a month, to as much as 4 hours a week.

Location: Working from home
