New Campaign Launched by Battersea Dogs and Cats Home for pet-Friendly Policies in Social Housing

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home have launched a campaign for more pet-friendly social housing policies following research that showed 64% of housing association in London ban tenants from owning dogs in flats with no direct garden street access.

Pet ownership provides great benefits for owners, animals and society. However, all too many people are denied the rewards of this companionship, because of the terms of their rental agreement. Not only are people being denied the opportunity of owning a pet in the first instance, for Battersea alone landlord restrictions on pets mean than more that 200 dogs are handed into Battersea each year by distraught owners.

The full report can be found on Battersea’s website.
