Volunteer Opportunities with SCAS  Board of Trustees

SCAS is seeking experienced and enthusiastic individuals to join our Board of Trustees in key roles crucial to our mission. We are specifically looking for volunteers who are passionate about our cause and possess the skills and attributes necessary to contribute to the strategic direction, fundraising efforts, and general administration of the charity.

Roles Available:

  1. Legal and Risk Guidance Trustee:
    • Provide expert advice and guidance on all legal and risk-related matters pertaining to the charity’s activities.
    • Support the Board in ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Contribute actively to strategic discussions and policy development.
  2. Fundraising Trustee:
    • Oversee all fundraising activities of the charity.
    • Work with the Board, staff, and stakeholders to develop and implement fundraising strategies to enhance sustainability and integrity.
    • Utilise campaigns, social media, and celebrity engagement to raise awareness and support.
  3. General Administration Support Trustee:
    • Assist in the general administrative tasks necessary for the smooth operation of the charity.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of administrative policies and procedures.
    • Provide support to other Trustees and staff as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute as a member of the Board of Trustees to provide strategic direction, set policies, and evaluate performance.
  • Attend 6 weekly board meetings, typically held in the evenings and lasting 1 – 2 hours.
  • Participate in the annual SCAS conference and strategic review.
  • Uphold the values and mission of SCAS in all activities.

Attributes Required:

  • Demonstrated experience in the respective field (legal, fundraising, or administration).
  • Strong leadership skills with a commitment to integrity.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proficient in written and oral communication, including public speaking.
  • Effective time management and personal motivation, with flexibility in working hours.
  • Belief in the vision, mission, and values of SCAS.
